Get your Hammer Horror on in February with a series of Hammer Films classics screened in the ‘double bill’ format. Horror Channel will be celebrating the notorious crimes and terror plagues of Count Dracula, Frankstein and his monsters, The Mummy and mad satanists in a weekly, month-long run of the British studio’s celebrated work.
Kicking things off is a Drac attack on 1st Feb (starting 21.00) with the blood-sucking count (as essayed by Sir Christopher Lee) in Dracula: Prince of Darkness; Terence Fisher’s direct sequel to 1958′s ground-breaking original, Dracula. That slice of horror awesomeness is directly followed at 22.45 by a personal favourite of mine, Scars of Dracula (it stars Dennis Waterman in as the romantic lead!)
On Sat 8th Feb, we get the one and only Peter Cushing in Frankenstein Created Woman (21.00) followed by Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell (22.50). This was Hammer’s last Frankenstein flick as well as Terence Fisher’s final picture in the director’s chair.
On Sat 15th Feb, two of Hammer’s Mummy films are paired together in the form of The Mummy’s Shroud (directed by John ‘The Plague of the Zombies’ Gilling) and Blood From The Mummy’s Tomb. The double-bill kicks off at 21.00.
There’s more Hammer goodness on Sat 22nd Feb, with a distinct satanic flavour, courtesy of The Devil Rides Out (which is fantastic) and To The Devil a Daughter. Again, the films begin from 21.00.
Happy viewing!
