The Glasgow Short Film Festival returns this year from 7th – 10th February. Based at the Centre of Contemporary Arts, the festival is set to explore gender inequality in the film industry with a series of events “designed to stoke debate and bust some gender myths”.

Other areas of the programme will focus on filmmaker George Kuchar. The underground artist has been described as “the missing link between Kenneth Anger and John Waters”. A Laxative of Love For the Constipated Cinefile presents four of the director’s ‘rarely-seen’ shorts.

GSFF will be running competitions for their Bill Douglas Award along with The Scottish Short Film Award. Other festival highlights include a screening of It’s Such A Beautiful Day by Don Herzfeldt and a Female Authorship Symposium led by Morag McKinnon, Denise Mina, Helen FitzGerald and Andrea Gibb.

Louise Crawford and Ann Vance will curate a programme on work by Scottish women filmmakers from the 1930s-1990s. Whilst former Edinburgh Film Festival head, Hannah McGill, joins Tom Kalin to host a forum titled Why Can’t Women Make Feature Films?
